Mahindra & Mahindra began selling the XUV 3XO ZNG on 16 October 2026, a turbo-petrol CNG compact SUV priced from ₹9.99 lakh to ₹12.27 lakh, claiming 24.7 km/kg efficiency and 270 litres of boot space with twin cylinders mounted under the floor.

On 16 October 2026, Mahindra & Mahindra rolled out the XUV 3XO ZNG, its first factory-fitted CNG sport utility vehicle. Prices start at ₹9.99 lakh ex-showroom for the MX Edge variant and top out at ₹12.27 lakh for the REVX A trim. The company uses a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine that it says delivers the same 82 kW and 200 Nm in petrol and CNG modes, with certified mileage of 24.7 km/kg. Twin CNG cylinders sit under the luggage floor, leaving 270 litres of boot space and a flat loading area. Six airbags, electronic stability control, and gas-leak detection that switches back to petrol are standard. Test drives started on 15 October; bookings and deliveries begin on 20 October.
Maruti Suzuki and Tata Motors already sell CNG in compact SUVs, so Mahindra is chasing buyers who want lower per-kilometre fuel bills without giving up turbo performance. Keeping identical torque claims in CNG mode is a marketing hook, though real-world range will depend on tank size and driving style. The launch lands while CNG pump prices in major cities are at 12-month highs, so the value equation is about running cost versus petrol, not a cheap fuel fantasy. For Mahindra, the ZNG broadens the XUV 3XO lineup beyond petrol, diesel, and electric options unveiled earlier in the year.
If you commute long distances, compare total cost of ownership against a hybrid or efficient diesel rival, including CNG availability in your city. Families should physically check boot space with luggage before booking. Fleet and ride-hail operators may like the dual-fuel backup when CNG stations run dry. Watch early delivery timelines, whether rivals trim prices on petrol trims, and how insurance premiums price CNG fitments on a turbo SUV.
Trade policy / exports
Commerce minister Piyush Goyal said on 22 October 2026 that India’s proposed free-trade agreement with the European Union could become operational within four to five months after signing, with the deal expected to be inked before year-end during his visit to Germany.
Food delivery / quick commerce
Swiggy reported on 22 October 2026 that September-quarter revenue rose 36% to about ₹7,571 crore and the consolidated net loss narrowed to ₹922 crore, as food delivery posted record adjusted core profit of about ₹349 crore while quick-commerce Instamart lost about ₹764 crore at the segment level amid heavier discounting and 69 new dark stores.
Quick-service restaurants / consumers
KFC and Pizza Hut operator Sapphire Foods India said on 22 October 2026 that September-quarter consolidated restaurant sales rose 20% year on year to about ₹885 crore, with KFC India same-store sales up 14% and adjusted EBITDA margin expanding 100 basis points to 7.1% even as the listed stock remained far below its 52-week high.
RBI / government borrowing
On 22 October 2026, the Reserve Bank of India accepted no bids at the scheduled sale of short-dated government treasury bills, the first full cancellation in about seven months, as investors demanded higher yields amid a bond selloff, oil-linked inflation fears, and expectations of more rate hikes after October’s policy minutes.
